The future of Freemasonry - the way forward envisaged by the United Grand Lodge of England

Glenn Karpel's Jungle Challenge

Please read about the incredible challenge W. Bro Glenn Karpel has set himself. Glenn is a Berkshire Freemason who visits lodges and chapters throughout the province and was at Abbey Lodge's 2022 Installation in October. Read the detail below and support Bro Glenn by visiting his Just Giving Page via this LINK or the address in the article itself.

There's still time to donate to Glenn's appeal, he survived his Jungle Challenge and continues his efforts to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.

Northern India Himalayas Jungle Fundraising Challenge in aid of Brain Tumour Research

Dates: 4th October to 16th October 2023.

Location: Arunachal Pradesh – (Sanskrit meaning Land of the Dawn-Lit Mountains).

My challenge is to survive a Jungle Expedition going through jungle and the foothills of the Himalayas – literally off the beaten track and living on military ration packs, and river water. Setting up daily clearings for a hammock and tarpaulin for the nights. 6-7 hours walk per day through steep terrain along animal trails used by tigers, snow leopards, elephants, rhino, wolves and Asiatic black bears.

My fundraising challenge is to continue to support the vital work of the Brain Tumour Research charity. Their mission is to fund long-term, sustainable research to accelerate early diagnosis and find a cure for brain tumours – a very insidious disease.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. My wife was an outgoing, fit and active lady, but, within two years of the tumour spreading she passed away on 15th September 2017. Why? Because the diagnosis was too late, and she had exhausted all the treatments available and there was nothing more which could be done to save her. I am determined to support early diagnosis and effec6ve treatments for this disease so that no-one should suffer this in the future.

Please see my JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/glenn-karpel for the full story and to sponsor my arduous and challenging expedition to raise vital funding to get the therapies out urgently. Please give generously to help smash my £10,000 target. To put this in context, £2,740 funds one day’s work of a cancer researcher.

Do you know what has an indissoluble link with Craft Freemasonry?
